1998 Jeep Cherokee XJ 2 Door in Red. Purchased from a coworker in 2023 and used as a daily driver since then. Previous owner was meticulous with oil changes and preventative maintenance. Engine was replaced at approximately 200,000 miles, new engine has ~20k miles on it. I added the drawer and camper set up in the back. Two 6' drawers, one for general storage, the other used as a kitchen set up. With the seats pulled forward, fold out panels allow for sleeping in the back. Pros / Features: Mechanically very reliable, has never left me stranded Chuck's Auto Repair in Roosevelt called in the "best condition Cherokee they've ever seen" Work done by Chuck's: Left C/V Axle Seal replaced, Power Steering Fluid flush, Radiator Hoses replaced. Upgraded front bumper with winch. Three inch lift (right on the edge of needing a slip yoke eliminator) Custom front bumper with Winch General Grabber 31 Inch Tires (including full size spare) Roof Rack including mounting hardware for spare tire Drawer and sleeping set up in cabin New alternator (~10k miles) Upgraded stereo and amplifier Aftermarket engine temperature and oil pressure gages I have an extra oil pan and associated engine and drum brake hardware I will include Cons: Occasionally throws Check Engine light for generic Transmission Code. Usually happens on extended medium speed (~45 mph) drives. Code clears after restarting a few times, appears to be a nuisance and not serious. I've included a picture of the OBD2 code read. Gauge Cluster Airbag light comes on and speedometer drops to zero. This happens occasionally when you first start up and the cabin is hot. From what I've read online this is an issue with older gauge clusters and may signal the entire cluster needs replacing. Doesn't affect the function of the jeep, just need to guess what speed you're going. Giving the dashboard a good whack also fixes it sometimes. This only started happening at the beginning of summer.
