"Sparky" is an awesome, extremely rare 1990 Jeep Cherokee Sport in excellent condition. 1990 to 1996 were the best XJ years. Sparky drives great and an excellent full restoration candidate. 2 door Sport model. Trusty 4.0L inline 6 engine. 5-speed manual transmission with mechanically activated 4WD. Everything works as it should except for the A/C (all lights, signals, heater, wipers, cruise, 4WD, etc). Engine has 313,000 miles, still strong. Tranny was rebuilt a few years ago though already in good shape. Front seats were recently rebuilt and now like new. Back seat original cloth. New headliner as of last year. New starter and battery as of last month. Clutch is in perfect condition, but I'll throw in a new-in-box complete clutch replacement kit - Autozone Duralast pressure plate and disc, slave and master cylinders - that I bought as a spare. Target buyer is someone who would like to eventually do a full restoration. Meanwhile, vehicle drives great as-is. No mechanical issues and almost no rust (a few tiny spots near the windshield). Vehicle has never been "raised" nor driven off road except lightly. I recently had him repainted and had that been done right, I wouldn't be selling. But, a single-stage paint was used which is not durable. If I were to keep him, I'd redo the paint then buy new tires, drive him a few more years as-is and later swap in a rebuilt 4.0 engine. Caveats include the fact that Sparky has not been smogged last nearly 20 years per being registered in Borrego Springs, which is smog exempt. To pass CA smog, you'll need at least a new catalytic, since the current one is a "all states" vs. CA model. Another option - not requiring smog to register - is to title and register him in South Dakota, which many California residents living in Baja do (I have the paperwork). Email me if interested!
