The Opportunity Slows Bar BQ and Slows To Go are searching for experienced Line Cooks to join our culinary teams. It is your job to make sure that our guests receive the consistent, high quality food that we have built our business on. You will become a part of the team serving some of the best food in Michigan. This is a great opportunity for eager and experienced, highly organized professionals. Responsibilities: Executes customer orders quickly and efficiently providing consistently excellent quality in all meals served. Properly measures and portions all food items according to standards. Complies with all rules, policies and procedures. Work with the kitchen team in preparing, cooking, and storing food, as well as in maintaining kitchen and storage facilities in sanitary condition. Utilizes kitchen equipment to prepare food items such as: knives, slicers, whips, pots, pans, warmers, steamers, grills, ovens, etc. Ensures and records proper food temperatures. Ensures all food is stored correctly. Ensures freshness and quality of all menu items and packages all products to proper specifications. Completes line check procedure for each shift worked. Performs opening, closing and side work duties as instructed and according to proper guidelines. Keeps workstation, coolers and equipment clean, organized, sanitized, and sufficiently stocked. Communicates with Kitchen management about stock needs. Follows and upholds all health codes and sanitation regulations. Uses waste control guidelines and records all waste on the Waste Sheet. Completes end of shift Hot Count inventory and other opening/closing duties in accordance with company checklists and procedures. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications Minimum of 1 year previous experience in a back-of-the-house foodservice position preferred. Participation in a culinary program is preferred. ServSafe certification is preferred. Ability to read and comprehend prep sheets and recipes. Basic math skills; ability to understand, calculate and follow recipe measurements and proportions. Physical Requirements Ability to chop, mix, blend, whip etc. a variety of foods and liquids. Ability to lift and carry large pans from ovens or freezers, weighing up to 50 lbs. Ability to handle or operate dangerous kitchen equipment. Standing and walking for the entire length of shift. Frequently required to reach up to 6-7 feet, twist at waist, bending and squatting Pushing and pulling occasionally, to move equipment, mops and brooms. Kitchen environment - noise levels may be moderate-to-high. Works frequently in a hot and damp environment. We’re lookin for a full time server that wants to work hard and make great money. Must love Tacos and Tequila :). That’s the easy part. MUST have a good perspective on life. It’s a strange world right now, I get it, but we need someone that find the silver lining in things. Knows how to smile and can stay positive, no matter what. We need you to have experience. Being a server is not rocket science but it DOES require some extra ordinary skills. You’ll need to be able to handle it when it’s busy. Multiple things at once is NORMAL while serving. Must be available weekends and Sundays without exception. Must LOVE to work. If taco’s and tequila are beneath you, then you go champ…unfortunately not here. If your idea of working here is centered around drinking, drug use or any other variations of nonsense that always ends up awful, then please don’t waste either of our time.
