Classic early '90s mountain bike. Schwinn MTB Double-Butted 4130 Chrome-Moly, True Temper, lugged steel 19" rigid frame made in the USA. Appr. 30" stand over height from floor to top tube. 26" Weinmann alloy rims with 26" x 1.75" Michelin tires ride smooth and fast. 3x7 gear rings with original Shimano 200GS Rapid Fire components. Factory black paint with white spatter still in good condition and the black can be touched up easily. The seat has been updated and the flat handlebars replaced with one having a 1" rise. Adult ridden and stored inside. I bought an identical bike new in 1991 and rode it for several years until some cretin stole it from my office. I replaced it in 2002 with a Specialized Rockhopper but I really missed the light weight, simplicity, durability and handling of the American made Schwinn, so when one became available a few years ago, I jumped on it. Everything I remember about the terrific ride quality was reproduced. Unfortunately, 34 years later, this 19" frame is very slightly too small for me on long rides and I just replaced it with a Schwinn PDG mountain bike from the same era. I don't have room for both in our little townhouse, so the High Plains needs a new home. I bought this bike from a professional bike mechanic for $250 on 7/2/21. He had completely stripped, disassembled, cleaned, rebuilt, lubricated and adjusted everything listed below. In addition to thoroughly cleaning the entire bike, including the drive train and shifters, the following items were replaced and adjusted: Headset bearings Bottom Bracket bearings Front and rear Brake cables and housings Front and rear Derailleur cables and housings Chain Front and rear Brake Pads Tire tubes Velox Rim tape Grips Toe Clips This is a classic bike for the cost of a tune up. Bar ends and rear rack available separately. No need to worry about shock absorber weight and replacement, charging the batteries on electronic shifters or hydraulic disc brake adjustment out on the trail. Just get on and ride! Cash & carry only.
