The Position Our community bank client is seeking to fill a Universal Banker/Teller role in the New Orleans, LA market. The successful candidate will be performing all customer service functions while maintaining positive relationships with coworkers and customers, while also periodically working on the teller line. The position includes a generous hourly rate of up to $29/hr plus incentives and an excellent benefits program. Universal Banker/Teller responsibilities include: Manage customer bank accounts; open, close and oversee transactions Resolve issues with banking services and accounts Answer incoming calls from customers and resolve basic inquiries for deposit and basic loan questions.  Perform account maintenance for customers who want to change their banking products Learn and follow the bank’s operating procedures Process additional functions including detailed reporting as assigned by supervisor  Escalate issues when necessary to supervisor in order to achieve successful customer service Providing comprehensive, prompt, and efficient customer transactions. Receiving checks and cash for deposits to accounts, verifying amounts, examining checks for proper endorsement, and entering deposits into computer records. Assisting in the bank-by-mail function, where available. Issuing traveler’s checks, money orders, and U.S. Savings Bonds. Balancing cash drawer at the end of the shift and comparing totaled amount to computer generated proof sheet.  Reporting any discrepancies to the supervisor as necessary. Ensuring that the teller station is properly stocked with forms, supplies, etc. Cashing checks from a variety of accounts upon proper verification. Cross-selling financial institution services such as safe deposit boxes, traveler’s checks, etc. Receiving mortgage, consumer loan, and other payments, and ensuring the payments match balances due. Entering payment into the computer. Reporting malfunctions of teller terminals and other equipment used at the teller station to supervise. Who Are You? Successful ability to sell ancillary insurance products. Ability to build positive relationships within the bank and capable of establishing professional expertise through integrity, dedication, and strategic counsel.
