Assembly Technician - Electrical & Mechanical

POSITION SUMMARY Assembles Mechanical products and mechanical assemblies to meet drawing specifications, working at bench or on shop floor. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES Utilizes basic assembly techniques to assemble components correctly. Uses hand tools, powered drivers, torque wrenches, and other basic hand tools. Fastens parts together with bolts, screws, speed clips, rivets, or other fasteners as required by drawing specifications. Ability to learn to recognize potential quality deficiencies in assemblies and notifies department lead of such concerns. Assisting the plant with shipping and receiving activities. Operates drill presses, arbor presses, or various other machines to assist in assembly operation. Performs basic quality assurance functions to ensure sub-assemblies meet specifications. Recommend measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product. Assists with loading and unloading large crates of product. Demonstrates responsibility and accountability for creating a professional, safe, and clean environment evidenced by: being at work on time to perform assigned duties, following the policies of Granite State Manufacturing, always wearing safety glasses in designated areas, maintaining a neat and orderly work area, and following safety practices to prevent errors. Requirements QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and five or more year’s related mechanical experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must be able to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, sketches and written instructions. Must have the ability to build to assembly drawings and follow process sheets. Excellent verbal and written communication skills; listens to others without interrupting; keeps emotions under control; remains open to others’ ideas and tries new things. Ability to communicate effectively. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and draw and interpret bar graphs. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. JOB SUMMARY The Parts Finisher performs repetitive bench or line assembly operations to produce various types of specified products in addition to completing routine tasks of hand washing or operating the ultra-sonic wash machine to clean manufactured components.    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Deburs parts with tools such as deburring wheels, reamers, drills, sandpaper, scotchbrite, small files, or small pneumatic tools. Loads and unloads materials or parts from washer to specified area. Immerses objects in washing and rinsing solutions to remove debris. Washes parts in ultrasonic machine or solvent, dries parts, examines parts, removes debris. Measures and pours soap or chemical into wash water, set controls to regulate cycle of wash and water temperature. Inspects parts, some under microscope. Responsible for Heli-Coil installation Completes parts assembly (non-electronic parts) and packaging. Completes paperwork. Operates a pallet jack / other moving equipment. REQUIRED SKILLS / ATTRIBUTES Ability to communicate effectively with supervisor as needed. Ability to follow oral and written instructions. Ability to recognize and sort materials. Ability to operate machinery. Strong work ethic: Willing to work OT to meet tight deadlines as needed.   EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Previous general labor experience in a machine shop environment preferred. High School diploma or GED Equivalent preferred. Ability read, write, and speak English fluently.   PHYSICAL JOB REQUIREMENTS Regularly required to stand and reach the duration of shift, 8-10 hours. Occasionally required to walk, sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, or bend. Frequently required to perform repetitive or short-cycles work. Regularly lift, push, or pull up to 10 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds. Understands and observes all necessary safety procedures: safety glasses, shoes, ear protection, machine interlocks, lifting guidelines, etc. as designated in specific work area assigned.
