I used to host a trio (drums, bass and guitar) in my home every other week: the band would gather at six, have dinner together, and then jam for a couple of hours. We played at a volume we could sing above without a PA, and played blues songs and jazz tunes like “All Blues,” “Footprints,” and “Take Five.” The band broke up when our irreplaceable drummer suddenly fell ill and died, and I miss him and our musical collaboration very much. I’m hoping to put together something like that again. I’m a 69-year-old blues guitarist who plays a jazz inflected style, and a member of the Robben Ford Guitar Dojo, so that gives you an idea of what I’m reaching for. Not really interested in classic rock, indie, punk… I dig Steely Dan and They Might Be Giants. I’m looking at this as a way to continue to improve my playing and have some fun. Sound good? Drop me a line and we’ll talk!
