Private furnished basement space / apartment (Bedroom, Closet, Kitchenette, Bath, Private Entrance, and Private Access to House) - available in the home of Scott and Iris (Scott’s mother). Scott is a former human/civil rights lawyer, music aficionado, and outdoor / international travel enthusiast now studying medicine with a focus on psychedelic psychiatry. We welcome all interesting people / students / anyone interested in calling the Bay Area “home” -- and particularly those with musical interests. Most residents have stayed here for many (5+) years after moving in and we prefer those interested in staying longer-term (e.g., 1-year lease); this said, we are open to meet those with shorter time horizons, too, such as visiting researchers, health care workers, high-tech start-up entrepreneurs/staff, and students/personnel at educational and research institutions around the Bay Area. The home has been remodeled to look like a castle, and the home’s main room – the “Rainbow Room” - is two-and-a-half stories and has a Steinway B parlor grand piano – available to be played and utilized by anyone and everyone in the House (and their friends!) if they are inclined. (One member of the household has just started piano lessons, for what it's worth!) The Rainbow Room, in addition to the piano, also has stained glass windows, a fireplace, and a model railway; additional tracks go through the house, but are not yet fully operational. The private basement space / apartment (650 ft2) is fully furnished and has a bed, flat-screen TV, closet, clothing drawers, desk, kitchenette (with small stove, fridge, and cooking gear), and a private bath; there is a window in the bathroom and both a (a) private entrance from the outside and (b) private entrance to the rest of the house (from the ground floor), so most previous residents treated the basement space as a "private space" situated in the larger house (of which they are a part). Other key offerings (with costs of “shared” items divided amongst the residents) include: • Full use of upstairs shared kitchen and dining area and side-load washer and dryer; • Shared ultra-high speed ethernet connections, high-speed wifi connectivity, and cable; • Summer BBQs / get-togethers (complements of Scott and his mother); • Sunny, large, outdoor deck with a BBQ & view of the bay and hills; • Location on the peak of a hill on a quiet, tree-lined street; • Private backyard garden has greenery and a large wooded hill behind; • Ample street parking; • Shared gas, electric, recology/rubbish pick-ups, water, and upkeep (cleaning shared spaces).
