We have a new opening for a Registered Nurse - General Surgery at the Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson in Anchorage, Alaska. Job Specific Duties may include the following, dependent upon department: • Provide preoperative and postoperative counseling and education, and coordinate scheduling and planning for operative cases. • Recover endoscopy patients when PACU staff are short staffed after receiving ACLS and PALS. • Coordinate patient care in collaboration with a wide array of healthcare professionals. Facilitate the achievement of optimal outcomes in relation to clinical care, quality and cost effectiveness. • Ensure compliance with standards of care and practice in accordance with all established policies, procedures, and guidelines used in the facility. • Perform physical exam and health histories. • Provide health promotions, counseling, and education. • Administer medications, wound care, and numerous other personalized interventions. • Clinically direct and observe the care provided by other healthcare professionals. • Accountable for making patient care assignments based on the scope of practice and skill level of assigned personnel. • Recognize adverse signs and symptoms and quickly react in emergency situations. • Communicate and collaborate with a diverse group of people for the purpose of informing the healthcare team of plans/actions, for teaching/education to benefit the patient/family and organization. • Make referral appointments and arrange specialty care as appropriate. • Perform nursing services identified in the TO. • Conduct research in support of improved practice and patient outcomes. • Obtain and maintain credentials to perform conscious sedation as needed.   Work Schedule: Work schedule shall be 7:30am - 4:30pm Monday-Friday to include a one-hour uncompensated meal break. Requirements Minimum Qualifications: Education: BSN Degree Experience: Minimum one year experience in a surgery clinic, step-down unit, intensive care unit, or post-anesthesia care unit within the past 5 years. Licensure: Current, full, active, and unrestricted RN license from any state. Life Support Certification: Maintain current AHA or ARC BLS, PALS and ACLS certifications or ability to obtain during the first 2 months. Security: Must possess ability to pass a Government background check/security clearance. Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced and autonomous Wound Care APRN to provide advanced wound management services to patients across a variety of care settings, including home health, skilled nursing facilities, and assisted living. This provider will perform comprehensive wound assessments, develop individualized treatment plans, and provide direct patient care using evidence-based practices to promote optimal healing and reduce complications. Key Responsibilities: Perform advanced wound assessments, diagnose wound types, and evaluate healing progress Develop and implement individualized treatment plans for acute, chronic, and complex wounds, including pressure injuries, diabetic foot ulcers, venous ulcers, surgical wounds, and more Debride wounds (sharp, enzymatic, or autolytic methods as appropriate) and apply advanced wound care therapies and dressings Prescribe medications, treatments, and durable medical equipment related to wound care Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members including RNs, LPNs, wound care techs, and primary care providers Provide education to patients, families, and caregivers regarding wound care management and prevention Document all clinical findings, interventions, and outcomes in electronic medical records (EMR) Maintain compliance with clinical protocols, safety standards, and HIPAA regulations Participate in quality improvement and infection control initiatives Travel to patient sites as required; Tahlequah and 70 mile radius Requirements Current and unrestricted APRN license in the state of Oklahoma Wound care certification (e.g., CWCN, WOCN, CWS) strongly preferred Wound care certification and training provided by employer Prefer 2–3 years of clinical experience, wound care is a plus!
