PAY & SCHEDULE: We are seeking to hire a respite caregiver for all day and/or overnight shifts to allow me and my wife to get some more regular opportunities for time away $250 per day (no overnight); $400 per day if staying overnight. Payment at the start of the shift. Paid training Schedule would typically be Fridays, Saturdays and/or Sundays, 1 to 2 times a month with 2+ weeks notice on schedule ABOUT THE CLIENT: Joshua is a 42 year old man born with Spastic Quadriplegia Cerebral Palsy. Joshua has no use of his right arm, limited use of his left arm and no use of his legs. He uses a powered wheelchair for mobility. Joshua is able to speak on his own, but has difficulty and must do so slowly which requires careful and patient listening from the caregiver Joshua works at Home Depot as a greeter and has been working there for 14+ years. He likes baseball, movies, live music and going for strolls to parks and around the neighborhood. Joshua moved from his long-term home with his parents outside Philadelphia to Chicago in March 2024 and lives with me, my wife and our dog in our 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom condo in a building in the City of Chicago near the intersections of Western Ave & Chicago Ave CARETAKING TASKS: • Getting Josh in/out of bed using a hoyer lift • Bathroom chair transfers using a hoyer lift • Wheelchair transfers using a hoyer lift • Preparing and helping with medications • Preparing meals • Showering & hygiene • Running errands (bank, grocery store, haircut, etc.) • Accompanying on public transportation and taxis • Companionship at home and on outings • Putting on, taking off and cleaning a condom catheter (for longer outings and times away from home bathroom chair) HOW TO APPLY If interested in being considered, please send us an e-mail explaining why you’re applying along with your resume and experience We will review and get back to you via e-mail If you have any questions, please ask
