Other Avenues is looking to hire a full-time co-owner. We have a current opening, so the start date will be as soon as we move through this process! Please read the full job description at the following link to learn more about what it means to become a part of our unique business model: https://www.otheravenues.coop/employment-opportunities/ ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Other Avenues Grocery Cooperative opened in 1974 as a small neighborhood store run by community members dedicated to providing an alternative to corporate grocery stores. We are now a collectively run, worker-owned and managed vegetarian grocery cooperative. Throughout our fifty year history, we have remained committed to organics, healthy food, sustainability, worker-ownership, and true community involvement. We are looking for someone interested in organic foods, consensus-based decision-making, egalitarian workplaces, and the chance to be involved in a thriving, socially responsible neighborhood business. This is an ownership position, not just a job. Although most people’s work experience is as an employee, the co-owner position takes on the weight and responsibility of managing a thriving business. This requires more responsibility but also offers more opportunity. As members of a cooperative, we are not just workers and partners, but are committed to mutual support of one another and other cooperatives, to quality natural foods, and to providing excellent service to the community. Starting pay is $23/hour, with full medical, dental, and vision insurance commencing at two months at no cost to the worker. We offer a suite of other benefits as well (see full job description). Yearly raises and cost of living adjustments occur regularly thereafter upon satisfying job requirements. Worker-owners also become eligible for Profit Sharing after they have passed their 6 month performance review. We have competitive and ample Paid Time Off. We also offer a very generous worker discount. You are expected to work a minimum of 30 hours per week, with most co-owners working 30-40 hours. All co-owners must have enough time and flexibility in their schedules to work weekend days and occasional long hours. Again, please read the full job description (https://www.otheravenues.coop/employment-opportunities/) to see if this is the right position for you.
