Pastry Xpo and Cafe at Merrifield Town Center, 8190 Strawberry Lane falls church Va, 22042, right in the heart of the Mosaic District is an upscale pastry shop and Cafe, our specialties are: French pastries, Macaroons, cupcakes, Gourmet sandwiches and proudly serving 'illy Coffee'. We have an opening for an energetic Barista for our Espresso bar, 2 yeas minimum experience is required in making gourmet coffee drinks such as Cappuccino and latte, should be able to work weekends Sat & Sun come and be part of PastryXpo's unique concept. The Barista / sales associate, is responsible for fulfilling orders and completing sales transactions within the Pastry Xpo establishment and performing other support functions which will include selling pastries, cupcakes and other food items such as sandwiches, soups and salads, may also include cleaning the food preparation, customer seating or stock areas and maintaining inventory; performs all other responsibilities as directed by the business or as assigned by management. Typically, the Barista /sales associate, Greets customers and takes food order; provides information about products and looks for opportunity to "up-sell" products. Prepares all drink orders to appropriate standards. operates a cash register and receives payment from customers in cash or credit card, accurately counts and provides change to customers as required, and follows all Pastry Xpo customer service and cash handling policies and procedures Educates and informs customers about the different unique desserts, gourmet illy coffee preparation and home brewing methods Cleans and stocks customer area Maintains a calm demeanor during periods of high volume or unusual events to keep store operating to standard and to set a positive example for the shift team QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE: Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills. The ability to learn and maintain knowledge of Pastry Xpo's products and procedures. Cash handling and customer service experience preferred. Barista: shift available between: 7am - 3pm 3pm - 9pm Part time & Full time Students are welcome.
