We are in need of a part-time groundskeeper/gardener/landscaper who is trained and interested in horticulture, arbor care, and landscape management. This role requires a hands-on, self-starting, experienced Horticulturist to manage and maintain all aspects of our year-round gardens and landscapes. This role includes care of ornamental and edible plantings, lawn and tree maintenance, soil health management, seed-starting and propagation, seasonal transitions, and overall landscape aesthetics and productivity. The ideal candidate is passionate about plants, understands the rhythms of the seasons, and can maintain a thriving and sustainable garden ecosystem throughout the year. There is plenty of room for growth and the creation of a larger team/crew over time. Key Responsibilities: Year-Round Garden Management: Plan, plant, and maintain annual and perennial gardens including ornamental and edible varieties. Tree & Shrub Care: Monitor, prune, and care for trees and shrubs to promote health, structure, and seasonal interest. Lawn Maintenance: Maintain healthy lawns through mowing, fertilization, weed control, irrigation, aeration, and pest management. Soil Health: Conduct soil testing, amend soils, and implement sustainable practices to improve fertility and structure. Vegetable & Herb Garden Management: Design, plant, maintain, and harvest vegetable and herb gardens for seasonal and year-round production. Seed Starting & Propagation: Start seeds indoors and/or in greenhouses, propagate perennials and annuals by cuttings, divisions, etc. Over-Wintering & Seasonal Transition: Protect tender plants during winter, manage mulching and covering, and plan/execute seasonal garden changes. Pest & Disease Management: Monitor for plant health issues and apply organic or integrated pest management (IPM) strategies. Composting & Sustainability: Manage compost systems and incorporate sustainable practices into all horticultural tasks. Landscape Aesthetics: Maintain clean, organized, and visually appealing garden beds, pathways, and landscape elements.
