This position will provide before and after school care in elementary schools in the Portland Public School District. We are currently hiring Lead Teachers for many of our programs throughout the district, including schools in N, NE, and SE Portland. Flexible Scheduling Career Path: Promotion to management positions from within the organization Job Responsibilities: A Lead Teacher will be the onsite leader of the program supervising teachers, aides, and volunteers. Responsibilities include maintaining a safe and developmentally appropriate classroom environment, implementing a fun and engaging curriculum, and fostering positive relationships with children, parents, and the school community. Required Qualifications: Pass a YMCA Background Check 20 credit hours in Education or related field or at least 1 year of experience in a licensed child care/school facility. Meet all teacher standards as dictated by the state Child Care Division. Current enrollment in the Oregon State Childcare Registry or ability to enroll prior to employment. Current CPR and First Aid certification or ability to obtain within 30 days. Current Food Handlers certification or ability to obtain within 30 days. At least 18 years of age

Reporting to the OST and Athletics Director, the Lead Youth Support Specialist - Recess will be responsible for supporting youth and staff with crisis intervention and behavior management support. Responsibilities Support youth and staff with crisis intervention and behavior management support during recess time; Model and encourage positive culture in all daily activities; Mediate conflicts and other situations as they arise; Support the development of group leaders’ professional development skills by designing training and providing coaching regarding behavior management & facilitation; Create and monitor recess schedules and activities, providing guidance and support to coaches in implementation; Assist in communication about youth behavior to parents and guardians, including information regarding behavior responses and consequences; Complete incident reports and follow up with relevant stakeholders in a timely manner; Collaborate with site Director and SLT on resolving conflicts/crisis; Innovate and implement new program ideas; Serve as a substitute recess coach as necessary; Model professionalism through consistent attendance, timeliness, and preparation; Participate in weekly professional development and tactical training in addition to formal feedback and coaching.
