Our Youth-Led initiative is in need of a professional cook/experienced individual who knows how to make Lumpia! Who are we? We're AUP (Asian Unification Project), A Youth-Led org whose main mission is to raise awareness of the struggles faced by Asian-Americans in our community and to empower individuals and groups to overcome the 'four I's of oppression': ideological oppression, institutional oppression, interpersonal oppression, and internalized oppression. Examples of our work can be seen on our Instagram @aup.sf !! Why? - We're hosting a Lumpia Making session Mid January-Late February for youth in the San Francisco Bay Area hoping to educate others about Filipino culture through cooking by sharing recipes and the story behind the dish in an engaging way. We will provide you and the youth with the ingredients and venue + a background lesson on the dish. Dishes we plan to make: - Lumpiang Shanghai - Lumpiang Gulay - Turon What/Who are we looking for specifically? Someone who has experience making at Lumpia (At least), this can be a professional chef, an experienced home cook, a mom that's passionate about cooking, and more! We'd prefer someone who is patient with and comfortable with working around youth below 24y/o. What will you get in return? A positive experience helping youth get in touch with one of the most prominent cultures in the SF Bay Area through cultural cuisine and a stipend of $200-$400 depending on hours worked. Details will be discussed after submitting a response and prior to the event. SALAMAT!
