The Public Works Finance Division is hiring an Accounting Technician to join our team to provide technician level accounting services. Public Works is responsible for county road and flood control infrastructure, provides parks and recreation services, the maintenance and capital improvement to county buildings, county wide fleet services, and county purchasing. Minimum Qualifications: Experience: Four (4) years of full-time experience in the preparation and processing of accounting documents and in the maintenance of accounting records, one (1) year of which was at the level of Contra Costa County Account Clerk Advanced classification. Substitution for Experience: Completion of 12 semester or 18 quarter units in accounting from an accredited college or university can be substituted for one year of the required experience; completion of additional education units or a college degree in business administration, finance, accounting, auditing, or a closely related field may be substituted for the required experience on a year-for-year basis. Desirable Qualifications: Cost Accounting experience in a government environment Experience in processing county accounts payable procedures in Work Day or other financial systems (JVs, Supplier invoices, Ad Hoc payments in Work Day) Knowledge of electronic deposit procedures and the county’s deposit procedures Selection Process: Application Filing and Evaluation: Applicants will be required to complete a supplemental questionnaire at the time of application. Applications will be evaluated to determine which candidates will move forward in the next phase of the recruitment process. Online Assessment: Candidates who possess the minimum qualifications will be invited to participate in the online assessment. The assessment will be conducted to measure candidates' competencies as they relate to the job. These may include, but are not limited to, writing, attention to detail, and customer focus.
