Costera Waste & Environmental, Inc. (Costera) is currently hiring for the position of HAZWOPER Field Technician at our Northern California branch location in Richmond, CA and long term project located in Oakland, CA. Costera is a rapidly growing environmental firm providing various industrial and hazardous waste services in California and throughout the United States. The position offers a competitive hourly pay that includes consistent overtime and double time as well as health benefits, paid vacation, paid sick time, 401(k), company credit card, etc. Frequent prevailing wage project(s) available with hourly pay in excess of $70.00 / hour (including fringe benefits). Although previous experience is preferred, training can be provided for the right candidate. Job Duties: - Identify, package and label various non-hazardous and hazardous wastes. - Load, transport and dispose various containers sizes of non-hazardous and hazardous wastes. - Perform confined space entry and cleaning of various tanks, sumps, vaults and related confined areas. - Operate various pieces of heavy equipment to include forklifts, skid steers, etc. - Operate various pieces of small equipment and power tools to include air compressor, water trailer, rivet buster, rotary hammer, angler grinder, etc. - Be in possession of a valid Class C license (at a minimum) and have the ability to tow a trailer. - Coordinate truck ingress and egress to and from various project sites. - Assist with traffic control on various project sites as needed. - Complete various regulatory paperwork accurately including waste labels, non-hazardous waste manifests, hazardous waste manifests and bill of ladings. - Have the ability to work individually as well as with a team. - The ability to pass Drug Test & Background Check is Required Preferred Training: - 40 Hour HAZWOPER - First Aid / CPR or EMT - Confined Space Entrant, Attendant, Rescue - Class C or Class B or Class A Commercial Drivers License with HAZMAT Endorsement Preferred Experience: 3+ years of environmental industry experience Compensation: - Hourly, depending on experience @ $30.00 - $35.00 / Hour (overtime after 8 hours, double time after 12 hours) - Frequent prevailing wage project(s) available with hourly pay in excess of $70.00 / hour including fringe benefits - Health Benefits, Paid Vacation, Sick Days, 401K w/ Match
