North Fork Lumber Company is looking to hire a hardworking and motivated Log Yard Groundman/Laborer at our Korbel sawmill facility. This position carries out multiple manual labor duties in and around the log yard. Essential Functions include: • Accurately measuring and cutting logs to length. • Placement, maintenance and removal of sprinklers and waterlines on log decks. • Operating pump stations and monitoring water movement for the sprinkler system, storage ponds and constructed wetlands. • Operating Equipment such as water truck, dump truck, and skid steer. • Maintaining small gas-powered equipment. • Grass and vegetation maintenance around log yard and mill site. • Operation of the truck scales and performing weighmaster duties as needed. • Assisting log tapers and scalers in scale yard with measuring and log marking. • General site maintenance including cleanup projects, wetlands maintenance, and other special projects as assigned. The ideal candidate would be self-motivated, hardworking and possess a positive can-do attitude with a willingness to learn. Candidate must be proficient with a chainsaw, able to follow instructions and work well both independently and as a team. Mechanical knowledge and ability are strongly desired.
