Position Description FCI Construction structures all roles as having (3) CORE FUNCTIONS that each have (3) SUPPORT FUNCTIONS. Our job postings and reviews will evaluate candidates (and employees) according to these functions. COLLABORATION: How well can you work as a team? This includes collaborating with labor, management, design team, and owners. It takes a team effort to meet our objectives and how you collaborate will impact how successful we are. DOCUMENTATION : How well do you keep up on completing the required documentation to assure the project is completed and limits the risk to the project success. This includes daily field reports, safety reporting, email documentation, updating field conditions, and short term schedules. CONFLICT RESOLUTION: When conflict arises it is the goal of FCI to reach a timely resolution that protects the interest of FCI both short term and long term. Sometimes this means finding compromise that allows all parties to move forward as a team. Seek solutions that allow for a win-win. OWNERSHIP: FCI aims to practice extreme ownership of our work. Take accountability for your role both the success and learn from them. Deflecting responsibility does not move towards success. COST CONTROL: How well can you manage your resources and efforts to meet the cost objectives of the role͍. This takes thoughtfulness, creativity, and intentional effort to find the best solutions to meet targets. EXPERIENCE - Experience at FCI has a dual meaning-- experience related to time and experience related to encounters. Utilize your experience in controlling project constraints to assure that all project partners have a good experience while working with FCI. DOCUMENTATION - How well do you document the progress and effort on a project related to the costs and expenses incurred so the project budget can be accurately and properly monitored and cost risks managed? LABOR MANAGEMENT - Utilize your knowledge and skills to effectively manage and communicate to labor on the project to complete tasks in sequence, on time, and within budget. Help facilitate the success of our labor pool through SCHEDULING: How well do you control and manage the resources (both self-performed and project contractors) to meet and exceed schedule expectations. This is done through effective documentation, planning, and communication. SUBCONTRACTOR MANAGEMENT - Use your relationships, knowledge, and (as needed) contractual knowledge, to assure all contractors and suppliers are meeting the schedule, quality, and safety requirements to complete the project. This includes knowledge of their scope of work and continuous assessments of their progress and performance. PLANNING & FORESIGHT - How well can you avoid bottlenecks of manpower, coordination, material, or equipment. Use look ahead schedules and thorough documentation to assure you are prepared ahead of time as each task arises. OWNER RELATIONSHIPS - How well do you communicate progress, expectations, and needs to the owner to assure they are in the loop and also feel engaged in the project to maintain their comfort. We rely heavily on repeat clients to maintain our work and you are the frontline for making sure the experience they have on our projects is a good one. Communication and follow through are key. Types of projects include but are not limited to environmental remediation, demolition, excavation, dredging, utility work, landfill cap and closures. Charter is currently looking to fill an Equipment Operator position at multiple Massachusetts projects. The ideal candidate would have the following knowledge: 5-10 years construction experience Must at a minimum be able to operate an Excavator, Bulldozer, Loader, Skid-Steer, and Backhoe Experience utilizing GPS machine control is a plus Possession of a valid MA hoisting license with 1C/2A designation is required Possession of a valid RI hoisting license is a plus Ability to read and interpret plans and construction drawings OSHA 10 Hour certification 40 Hour HAZWOPER training is preferred Must have a license and reliable transportation Ability to travel within New England is a plus Hourly Wage, with potential for additional overtime hours.
