Overview We are seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic to join our dedicated team in Waipahu. In this essential role, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining the mechanical, hydraulic, diesel, and electrical systems on a fleet of semi-trucks, trailers, and buses. You will ensure all equipment is kept in top working condition by performing regular maintenance, responding to breakdowns, and ensuring safety standards are met at all times. Key Responsibilities: Inspect, diagnose, and repair diesel engines (Caterpillar, Cummins, Kenworth) to maintain optimal performance. Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems using schematics, ensuring all wiring and components are functioning correctly. Perform preventive maintenance on tractors, trailers, and buses to minimize downtime. Conduct full vehicle assessments and execute timely repairs on both scheduled and unscheduled service calls. Maintain detailed service records of work completed, parts replaced, and maintenance schedules, ensuring compliance with safety and company standards. Monitor and adhere to routine maintenance schedules, making sure all equipment receives necessary attention on time. Communicate findings and repair needs effectively with the maintenance supervisor and team to prioritize and allocate resources appropriately. Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or degree in diesel technology preferred. 3 years of experience working as a diesel mechanic, with experience on semi-trucks, trailers, and buses. Proficient in the use of diagnostic tools and repair equipment. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently as well as in a team setting. Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record. Star Academy, a small non-public school for students with learning disabilities, needs a van driver. Applicants must have a clean DMV record, must clear DOJ and FBI fingerprinting, must have a TB clearance, and must be sensitive to the special needs of our population. We have students from all over the Bay Area who we transport to our school in San Rafael. This particular need is for a driver to transport 5 students at a time to Berkeley/Oakland on days school is in session. The driver would start in San Rafael, driving one of our newer and well-maintained vans, pick up students, and then drive them home in the afternoon. The pay for these routes depends on the destination, this route pays $77.00 per day. Approximate drive time is 2.5 hours. There is potential for additional routes. Pay is determined by the route. This is a contract position so that means drivers are paid per trip. Drivers are expected to be reliable, responsible, to be able to communicate clearly and respectfully with the Transportation Coordinator, with parents, with school staff, and above all, with students, and to maintain student safety at all times.
