Well it is and we are looking for a person like you who is a skilled carpenter with commercial construction experience. In this role – you would be assisting the superintendent with any needs on the project that may require basic – finish carpentry skills, including but not limited to installation of panic hardware, hanging doors, installing acoustical ceiling, reading plans, cleaning the project site, and working without supervision. Our typical work weeks are 8-hour days Monday through Friday. Here are a few more things you should know about this job: ^ Performs a variety of tasks involving dexterous use of hands and tools such as sawing, erecting and dismantling scaffolding, shoring and braces, cutting, and attaching insulation material and demolition. ^ Lifts, carries and holds building materials and supplies, levels earth to fine grade using pick and shovel and measures distances from grade stakes, drives stakes and stretches tight line. ^ Grinds, sands and polishes surfaces such as concrete or wood. ^ Basic block/patching, concrete skills, patching and placing. ^ Ability to follow specific instruction and perform a variety of duties that change often. ^ Repeat tasks of short duration according to set procedures and work within standard of accuracy. ^ Evaluate information using measurable standards. ^ Able to physically stand and walk for long periods. ^ Use arms and hands to reach for and manipulate objects. ^ Lift and carry materials weighing 100 pounds. ^ Able to climb up and down ladders, scaffolding and other objects while carrying tools and equipment. ^ Stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, see and hear (naturally or with correction). ^ Cleans tools, equipment, materials and work area. ^ Performs miscellaneous other duties and responsibilities as required. ^ Adheres to all safety regulations and procedures. ^ Works harmoniously, cooperatively and courteously with others at all times. ^ Commercial Construction site experience is required. ^ Must provide steel toe work boots, basic carpentry hand tools, and tape measure. ^ High school diploma, valid driver’s license and reliable transportation is required. He is nonverbal, gentle, and bright. He thrives on caring relationships and a joyful environment around him as a foundational element of any time spent with an aide. He understands everything, but has challenges due to poor motor skills, sensory regulation, fitness, and occasional pain and anxiety management. We are lately seeing a faster ability to acquire motor skills than ever before, and believe that this area holds the key to greater independence for him.  A typical day for him starts late (around noon) with low-key activities such as meals and gentle engagement, done predominantly while sitting in one place. As the day goes along, his energy and activity levels improve and may include short community outings, low-intensity exercises, and movement. With your help, we seek to add more engaging and skill-building motor-oriented activities into his daily routine in between his daily care responsibilities. This role combines traditional caregiving with opportunities to apply skills from occupational therapy, physical therapy, ABA, rehabilitation, or kinesiology. Key Responsibilities Find creative and adaptive ways to teach daily living skills. Assist with meals, toileting, and personal care till skills are acquired. Provide companionship and foster a low-stress, happy, and nurturing environment Serve as a 1:1 aide in group lessons or community activities. Required Qualifications At a minimum, high-school diploma or GED plus equivalent to 1+ years of full-time experience working with adolescents or adults with autism Strong professional references Valid work authorization and driver’s license Commitment of at least 12 months. Willingness to accept at least part of the salary through a 1099 or W-2.
