Litigation Paralegal A law firm in Dadeland is currently seeking a Litigation Paralegal with 5+ years of prior Insurance Defense experience, preferably with prior experience in handling Medical Malpractice claims. Primary Responsibilities Demonstrated effectiveness at obtaining and managing client documents, including electronic data, and determining potential existence of documents that may be relevant to each case. Regularly conduct litigation, criminal, and civil background checks and obtains properly authenticated records as needed. Consistently and accurately identify and prepare all documents for production including bates labeling and redacting for privileged and confidential information. Effectively assists in preparation for trial including managing exhibits and all evidentiary matters, witness lists, files and subpoenas, coordinates and attends witness prep meetings; assists at trial. Reviews and ensures accuracy of vendor invoices; timely submits invoices to Accounting for processing. Case opened in CP by the billing department- case name & number, billing contact. LA (Elli) inputs all other information available- adjuster, claim number, case style, opposing counsel, court reporter assignment and all initial deadlines. Trial team LA File all pleadings in federal and state court. For federal court matters, LA files: o Notice of appearance for all attorneys on the trial team. o First e-filing on a matter to prepare the notice and properly set up the e-filing requirements for the members of the trial team. o Answer plaintiff's complaint and notice of appearance for attorneys on the trial team and add them to the list of individuals to receive notices from the Court for all filings. o Same process for a newly assigned attorney. Responsible for scheduling and filing/serving: o Hearings, depositions, IMEs, appointments, etc. and confirming documentation, including notices, correspondence and/or subpoenas. Advise trial team via email. Confirm hearings/depositions/mediations/appointments with opposing counsel, the Court and/or mediator.
