Disaster Response Dispatcher (Virtual Opportunity) (Remote)

Regional Positions will be available throughout the region. This position supports the Regional Disaster Cycle Services (DCS) department. Most of the 60,000 emergencies that the Red Cross responds to each year are local, personal disasters like home fires. Disaster Action Teams (DAT) provide emotional support, financial assistance, and information to help families begin the process of recovery. The Disaster Action Team (DAT) Duty Officer ensures timely activation and monitoring of local and regional DAT responses. The Duty Officer supports the DAT program either at the chapter/territory or region level. Time Commitment Two shifts per month (48 hours total) Shifts available Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday Shifts are 24 hours in length; example: Sunday 12:00am to 11:59pm Must be fluent in using computers and have reliable internet access. Must be familiar with speaking to professionals and relaying information in narrative format. The Back-Up Duty Officer NEEDS to be available to receive an emergency response call within a 24 hour period, support the current Duty Officer to ensure continuity of services, and fill the schedule with Duty Officers. Potential associate needs to have excellent communication skills, computer skills and interpersonal skills. This position requires that the above 3 requirements are satisfied on a monthly basis.
