===== UPDATE: on May 7, a bird that was an extremely close match to the one seen on Russian Hill, the Marina, etc. was brought to the SF ACC. I visited the bird today and it was clearly comfortable and being well cared for, and calm -- too much so for it to be my bird, who would certainly have become agitated, as he always did when I picked him up from boarders when traveling. So, alas, this is not my bird. I'm glad it has a shot at being reunited with its human, though. It was surviving in the wild, but it wasn't fully accepted by the SF parrots, who sometimes bullied it, and it also wasn't entirely keeping up with them in flight, which would have made it vulnerable to predation at some point. In the meantime, if you've seen a bird like the one in this ad, please reach out anytime! ===== UPDATE: as of today (4/27), several independent sightings have been reported in the past 3 days of what is clearly a lilac-crowned amazon among the Telegraph Hill Parrots! Twice on Russian Hill and twice in the Marina/Fort Mason. If anyone seems him again with the flock, please feel free to DM me -- I should get the notification on my phone, and if I possibly can, I'll come right away. Thank you! If it's him, hopefully he'll choose coming home vs. staying with his new friends. We'll see....Thanks again to everyone for the support and watchful attention. ===== Our dear 24yr-old Lilac-crowned Amazon parrot escaped Thursday (4/3/2025) -- probably looking for us while we were just outside in the backyard. He's fully flighted, but not nearly as strong a flier as the wild parrots, and is probably within a mile from Clarendon Elementary School (see map). He never learned from a flock how to handle himself in wild -- doesn't know what to eat or drink, nor the dangers (aside from large birds, which he's instinctively very alert to). If you find him and take him in, he'll need water/juice first, and eats nuts/fruit/pasta. If you see him at all, please let us know -- we'll go to wherever he might be. Thank you!
