Apprentice Machinist Technician
Assist in all phases of part machining and water jet operations including:
o Review of part/component/system technical data for completeness and accuracy
o Identification of tooling, jig, and fixture requirements & support/input/review of engineering designs
o CNC file implementation
o Set-up
o Rough and finish machining
Identify machine tool requirements
Provide support to either Project Manager or mid-level/junior Engineering/Science personnel in the areas of scheduling, data gathering/limited analyses preparation of technical/project reports, test reports, drawings, specifications and associated documentation
Assist with department administrative duties as necessary to learn about the work being performed, and to contribute to completion of department workload
Other duties as assigned
Requirements
Education/Training:
High School diploma or equivalent required
Associate’s Degree in management or technical/scientific discipline preferred
Experience:
0-2 years of professional experience in the required task area
Security:
Must be a US citizen
Ability to obtain a security clearance may be required
Physical Requirements
Able to assess, install, and modify equipment, and inspect machinery
Able to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, grasp and reach with hands and arms, handle and operate hand/power tools and machine controls
Perform frequent wrist, hand, and finger movements
Prolonged periods of standing while operating machinery
Adhere to all safety protocols, including wearing appropriate safety gear (e.g., eyewear, gloves, masks, hearing protection, etc.) for the assigned task
Able to safely lift and carry up to 50 pounds at a time
