This is NOT a 9-5 job! About The Vanity Portrait Studio We are The Vanity Portrait Studio (TVPS), and we offer photography services for high-end events. We have a top-notch team, and we’re looking to grow it with a stellar entry-level part-time Event and Portrait Photographer serving the greater San Diego metropolitan area. The Vanity Portrait Studio is rooted in celebrating people’s essence, and our team has a blast providing guests with an uplifting and memorable experience at events. When guests receive their printed portraits, we want them to see the best version of themselves and walk away feeling seen and affirmed. Who We’re Looking For Someone with one to two years photography experience, familiar photographing events or weddings, and has their own photography equipment. Your personality will drive 98% of your success in this role, so we emphasize a great personality more than great photos. We can teach you how to be a great photographer, but we cannot teach you how to engage and enthusiastically interact with guests. Owns a reliable vehicle that can transport equipment Roles & Responsibilities Event Photography (training will be provided) Work alongside TVPS photographers to learn event photography best practices. Photograph events as a roaming event photographer and edit photos for delivery to the client. Upload photos for editing, and/or cull images after event. Photographing TVPS Portrait Events Pick up, load in, and return TVPS equipment to our Los Angeles based studio. You will be the primary leader for the TVPS team while on-site at events. This is YOUR event. You will greet and make every guest feel uplifted and seen. You will pose individuals and groups in a way that evokes elegance and sophistication. You will encourage spontaneity by prompting studio guests. You must maintain a pace of 60-90 guests per hour (approximately 90 seconds per portrait session) Additional Requirements Learn TVPS Equipment Setup, lighting techniques, and all technical aspects of the job Maintain equipment in company studio on a weekly basis Willing to travel across the country and internationally Must own a vehicle that can transport gear to events Must have a valid drivers license Must be able to lift 75+ lbs of equipment (our studio kits contain 300 lbs of gear. We do have rolling carts) Must be able to communicate efficiently by phone, text, and email Must reply to inquiries within 24 hours Required Equipment, Experience, and Skills 1-2 years of event photography experience with on-camera flash or studio lighting. Photographed 30+ events and has both a portfolio as well as individual galleries to share Experience with luxury goods / high-end hospitality/event services Flexible in working with the needs of an events industry business… Evenings and weekends are a must Responds quickly to urgent client needs Self-motivated Adept at providing and receiving constructive feedback and coaching Able to work with high-volume workloads in a fast-paced environment Can learn and adapt to technical platforms and processes quickly Trusted to handle confidential information with discretion This is an hourly part-time on-call/as needed position that is required to be available for at least 4 shifts per month. Shift availability is dependent on event bookings. Pre-employment requires a clear background check and reference checks. Compensation: Admin/Commuting Rate: $25/hr. On-site rate: $50-$75/hr.
