Position Description: The Sr. Estimator, will skillfully read and interpret plans, proposals and other documentation to develop bids and successfully negotiate budgets. The Sr. Estimator will also be able to prepare and present estimate documentation and analyze data to reduce gaps between estimates and actual cost.  Essential Functions: Analyze drawings, specifications, proposals, etc. to complete various checklist/spreadsheets related to a project. Review takeoff process with Jr Estimator and ensure the checklist/spreadsheets are created for the project. Compile counts/quantities to create bill of materials (BOMs) as part of the request for quote process (RFQ) Enter counts/quantities into estimating software. Review RFQs from material vendors and sub-contractors for scope discrepancies and accuracies. Manage in subcontractor outreach including good faith efforts. Represent Royal Electric in meetings with vendors, General Contractors, Owners, and Subcontractors. Review requests for information (RFIs) provided by Jr Estimator Participate in preparing and organizing bid packages. File management throughout the entire duration of the estimates/bids Assist with final bid review Own “hand-off” to project management team after project is awarded including attending project kick off meetings when needed. Coach Jr Estimators for successful accomplishment of their own key results Complete misc. projects as assigned.  Requirements Special Considerations: Experience with Commercial/Residential projects Experience bidding Public Works projects Required Skills & Abilities: Oversee timely and accurate takeoffs, subcontractor and material vendor outreach and confirm that the subs/prime contractors are in line with our scope of work to prevent gaps in the bid.  Ensure the estimating team has the proper information prior to bidding.  Develop and maintain relationships with customers, subcontractors, and vendors.   Compare historical data and production rates to accurately build the bid.  Develop the overall plan to bid day by prioritizing the activities for the Jr Estimators and Estimators for a cohesive sequence of tasks that are vital to the project bid.  Develop detailed scope letters that clearly identify our clarifications and exclusions as well as any subcontractor exclusions early in the bid process to allow for communication and scope coverage between Royal and the prime and subcontractors.  Ensure the estimating team stays on track and meets deadlines.  Document and categorize all relevant project information including scope, material pricing, sub pricing and a detailed estimator summary.  Collaborate with Operations and Support Ops teams to build a quality estimate and create a seamless transition from estimate to project launch.   Communicate with the estimating team to make sure resources are being allocated adequately.   Manage multiple bids at one time depending on the size and complexity of the project.  Take time daily to coach Jr Estimators and Estimators to reach their maximum potential.  Ensure that all team members are living up to linking values by leading by example.  Be a resource for the estimating team.  Oversee electrical estimates ranging from $2M to $50M.     Education & Experience  At least 5 years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience  Field experience is a plus.   Safety & Physical Requirements  Must wear proper PPE while on jobsites.   Must comply with all safety standards and procedures.  Sit, stand, and walk during the duration of the workday.  Will lift, carry, push, pull, kneel, crouch, and reach.   Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.  Salary Range: $125,000 - $150,000/year This is an exempt position We offer competitive wages plus benefits and 401(k).
