Banquet Cook (Part Time & Full Time) (Westlake Village)

Join our team! The Westlake Village Inn Resort and Spa is looking for Part-Time and Full-Time line cooks for our busy Banquet Kitchen. General Responsibilities: - Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming which include wearing the proper uniform. - Have thorough knowledge of menus and the preparation required according to hotel standards. - Comply with certification requirements as applicable to the position including Food Handlers Safety, etc. - Prepare food items according to guest orders of consistent quality following recipe cards, as well as production, portion, and presentation standards. - Start food items that are prepared ahead of time, making sure not to prepare beyond estimated needs. - Maintain post on kitchen line as required during operating hours in order to prepare food to order maintaining the highest standards of efficiency, productivity, and quality. - Prepare food for Banquets as required following specifications of Banquet Event Orders. - Operate, maintain, and properly clean kitchen equipment, including deep fryer, broiler, stove, steamer, food processor, mixer, slicer, oven, steam table, tilt kettle, waffle iron, and flat top grill. - Must have a good understanding of ingredients, products, and equipment. - Operate standard kitchen equipment safely and efficiently. - Clean and maintain station and practice good safety and sanitation. - Assist with cleaning and organization of kitchen and equipment. - Restock items as needed throughout the shift. - Practice safe work habits at all times to avoid possible injury to self or other associates. Desired Skills and Experiences: - Minimum of two (2) years of experience in high-volume banquet kitchen. - Superior knife skills, experience with butchery, and well versed in cooking temperatures. - California Food Handlers card required. - Strong knowledge of proper food handling and sanitation standards. - Excellent critical thinking and time management skills. - Bilingual in Spanish preferred but not required. - Must have a flexible schedule as overtime may be required from time to time. Physical Demands: - Must be able to carry, lift, push, and pull up to 40 pounds. - Must be able to bend and stoop regularly. - Must be able to work with grills, ovens, and stovetops.

Summary of Position: The Line Cook is responsible for preparing and cooking high-quality menu items according to Harold & Belle’s standards. This role involves ensuring consistency in food preparation, maintaining cleanliness and organization in the kitchen, and supporting kitchen operations to deliver exceptional dining experiences. The Line Cook reports to the Manager on Duty and works closely with other kitchen staff to ensure smooth and efficient food service. Job Duties & Responsibilities: · Prepare and cook food items according to established recipes and standards to ensure consistent quality. · Maintain a clean and organized work area, including countertops, utensils, and cooking equipment, adhering to food safety and sanitation guidelines. · Follow portion control and presentation specifications to ensure that each dish meets the restaurant’s quality standards. · Assist in inventory management by monitoring stock levels, replenishing supplies as needed, and reporting any discrepancies or shortages to the Supervisor. · Collaborate with other kitchen staff to ensure timely and accurate food preparation and delivery. · Follow safety procedures for handling and storing food, as well as for operating kitchen equipment. · Participate in daily prep work, including chopping vegetables, marinating meats, and preparing sauces. · Support the Kitchen Supervisor in maintaining cleanliness and organization of kitchen equipment and storage areas. · Communicate effectively with front-of-house staff to coordinate food orders and special requests. · Adhere to all health and safety regulations, including the Occupational Safety and Health Act. · Assist in training new kitchen staff and provide guidance on proper cooking techniques and kitchen procedures. · Perform other duties as assigned by the Kitchen Supervisor or management.
