Homegrown Cone is seeking an upbeat person to join our team as a kiosk attendant at our seaside kiosk in Kona. Our ideal candidate is someone who enjoys working independently, likes engaging with people, and can enthusiastically communicate our mission and values. We will provide the training, education, and support you need to become a Homegrown hero! Job Summary In this role, you will independently operate the Homegrown Cone ice cream kiosk on each shift. You will greet customers and educate them about the real fruit ice cream we offer, fill orders by scooping ice cream and fruit into our blending machines, maintain a stock of pre-mixed “grab-and-go” servings, and manage inventory of ice cream bases, frozen fruit, consumables and other supplies. You will keep the kiosk and its outdoor seating areas clean and observe safe food handling guidelines. You will take cash and credit card payments and balance the register at the end of each business day. A car is required, as you will make trips to an off-site kitchen for dishwashing and to the bank for nightly cash deposits. You will also work with other members of the team at occasional off-site events (e.g. Kona Pride, Honoka’a Renaissance Festival, and Kona Coffee Festival). You may assist in coordinating social media presence and promotion. Duties and Responsibilities Greet shop customers Provide education about our products (locally grown tropical fruits, ice cream/gelato bases) Speak to Homegrown’s mission and values (supporting local food autonomy, sustainability) Scoop ice cream and fruit to fill customer orders and stock prepackaged products Speak to Homegrown’s mission and values (supporting local food autonomy, sustainability) Set up ice cream blending machines and disassemble at end of shift Restock ingredients and consumables Maintain clean and sanitary food preparation and customer service environments Run the register for cash and credit card transactions, reconcile at end of day, and make bank deposits Collect dirty wares on each shift and clean them offsite at our support kitchen 1-2x weekly Manage grey water, compost, and rubbish waste streams Mobile events: assist with loading/unloading/setup/teardown of equipment at kiosk and at off-site event locations and operate mobile cart at events Coordinate with other team members as needed to support overall operations Maintain a clean and sanitary work environment Assist with other tasks as needed Requirements and Qualifications Must be at least 18 years old Drivers License in good standing and reliable transportation Current Safe Food Handling card from Hawai'i County DPH Ability to stand for extended periods of time (>⅓ work day) Ability to lift up to 15lbs (Occasionally: <⅓ work day) Ability to lift up to 50lbs (Seldom: <2% work day) Great customer service skills Social media production and coordination experience a plus!
