The Financial & Operations Analyst iis primarily responsible for overseeing the business finance and operational analytics for the Company. This includes gathering and analyzing complex pieces of data to supply statistical analysis, provide data-driven business recommendations and answer specific business and operational questions to meet the needs of the Company and its customers. This is a multi-faceted role requiring collaboration with key leadership across Finance, Operations and Sales to maintain and continually enhance financial and operational proficiency. This role bridges finance, accounting and operations, providing critical insights into fuel tax reporting, pricing strategy, financial performance and routing efficiency. The ideal candidate has strong Excel skills, the ability to learn new systems quickly, and an interest in developing both financial and operational expertise within the trucking and logistics industry. Fuel Tax & Compliance • Oversee the preparation and accuracy of fuel tax reporting (IFTA and other applicable jurisdictions). • Collect, validate, and reconcile fuel usage, mileage, and tax data. • Assist in audits and ensure compliance with state and federal reporting requirements. Pricing & Customer Support • Develop and maintain pricing models for dedicated customers, incorporating cost inputs, market data, and operational factors. • Support customer proposals, RFPs, and renewals with financial and routing analysis. • Collaborate with account managers and, when required, present findings and recommendations directly to customers. Financial Analysis • Conduct financial modeling, forecasting, and variance analysis to support decision-making. • Track key performance indicators (KPIs) for routes, customers, and operational performance. • Provide data-driven recommendations to improve profitability and efficiency. Routing & Operational Analysis • Perform route optimization and scenario modeling to evaluate cost and service trade-offs. • Analyze delivery times, mileage, and equipment utilization to support operational planning. • Partner with dispatch and operations teams to identify efficiencies. QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS: • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Business, Supply Chain, or related field. • 3+ years of experience in finance, accounting, operations, or logistics (transportation industry preferred). • Strong Excel skills (formulas, pivot tables, data modeling). • Ability to learn new financial, operational, and routing systems quickly. • Exposure to programming/statistical tools (Python, R, SQL, or similar) is a plus. • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail. • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to support both internal stakeholders and external customers. • Ability to work on-site and collaborate across departments. Key Responsibilities Design and architect end-to-end data processing pipelines: ingestion, transformation, and delivery to the Delta Lakehouse. Integrate with external systems (e.g., CRMs, file systems, APIs) to automate ingestion of diverse data sources. Develop robust data workflows using Python and Databricks Workflows. Implement modular, maintainable ETL processes following SDLC best practices and Git-based version control. Contribute to the evolution of our Lakehouse architecture to support downstream analytics and machine learning use cases. Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize data workflows in production. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate data needs into scalable solutions. Requirements Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, or a related technical field or equivalent work experience. 3+ years of experience building and maintaining production-grade data pipelines. Proven expertise in Python and SQL for data engineering tasks. Strong understanding of lakehouse architecture and data modeling concepts. Experience working with Databricks, Delta Lake, and Apache Spark. Hands-on experience with AWS cloud infrastructure. Track record of integrating data from external systems, APIs, and databases. Strong problem-solving skills and ability to lead through ambiguity. Excellent communication and documentation habits.
