Craftsman Wire Harness Technician (Contingent)
Expertise and Functions
Provide support to either Program/Project Manager in the areas of project scheduling, data gathering/analyses, database manipulation or population, preparation of technical/project reports or briefings, test plans and reports, and associated documentation, test or validation/verification assistance
Oversee/perform test or project events as assigned by Program Manager or Engineering supervisor, report status and results
Follow engineering guidance, technical orders, and drawings
Perform and oversee moderately complex assembly/test functions utilizing mechanical skills, hand and power tools, test equipment, and inspection measurement equipment in a manufacturing environment
Perform and inspect wire terminations and wire harness assembly (OJT)
Produce and inspect assemblies conforming to customer specifications (OJT)
Assemble, test, and solder as required per customer/industry standards (OJT)
Perform electrical checkout of manufactured wire harnesses (OJT)
Document records identifying compliance with assigned tasks regarding wire harness manufacturing (OJT)
Establish, organize & maintain detailed inventory of government, customer and KIHOMAC property (OJT)
Lay out/assemble units for production according to designs, specifications, and work instructions (OJT)
Modify equipment by adding, removing, or altering components as per predetermined processes (OJT)
Maintain high ethical/professional standards of performance, demeanor, and judgment always
Observe all safety rules and maintains a foreign object debris (FOD) free work area
Train and assist other technicians on techniques and procedures
Attend meetings and conferences to represent section
Communicate with vendors to acquire quotes for hardware and materials (OJT)
Perform hardware procurement through purchase requests (OJT)
Report status and results
Maintain a clean work area
Work unsupervised at times
Other duties as assigned
This position is contingent upon contract award.
Requirements
Education/Training:
High School diploma or equivalent required
Associate’s Degree in management or technical/scientific discipline preferred
IPC/WHMA-A-620 and IPC J-STD-001 Certification preferred
Experience:
3+ years of professional experience in the required task area required
U.S. military aircraft maintenance and wiring experience preferred
Familiarity with schematics, logic drawings, layouts, wire lists, and prints preferred
Ability to use various hand tools, soldering equipment, and machinery preferred
Impeccable organizational skills and attention to detail a must
Basic understanding of electrical circuits preferred
Wire termination experience using DMC Tools - “Daniels Kit” - style tools preferred
Knowledge of cable assembly procedures preferred
Familiarity with USAF TO 1-1A-14 (AKA NAVAIR 01-1A-505-1 or TM 1-1500-323-21-1) preferred
Basic knowledge of IPC/WHMA-A-620 and IPC J-STD-001 preferred
Basic knowledge of IPC/WHMA-A-640 fiber optic cable harness preferred
Security:
Must be a US citizen
Ability to obtain a security clearance may be required
Physical Requirements
Prolonged periods of standing and walking, able to bend, stretch, work with hands, push, pull, and move as needed to reach, clean, and service machinery
Must be able to visually inspect machines
Must be able to wear required safety equipment such as gloves, safety glasses, and respirator as needed
Must be able to regularly lift and carry up to 25 pounds, and occasionally up to 50 pounds
