ABOUT: I create and sell simple communication products for individuals who are unable to speak. I run a small online store. JOB ACTIVITIES • SIMPLE MANUFACTURING: Putting together simple (non-computerized) communication aids. This might involve attaching wires from a laser to a battery box, performing a small amount of soldering, drilling a hole in plastic, or placing a sticker with precision on a plastic board. The work does require some dexterity. • SIMPLE BOOKKEEPING: About 1/5 of the job will entail inputting information into QuickBooks (a bookkeeping software program). No experience required, training provided. Some computer experience would be helpful. • PACKAGING & SHIPPING : About 1/3 of the job is packaging and shipping orders. Must be able to lift 15 pounds. Capstan Medical is looking for production sewers to work in our West Side Santa Cruz facility! Capstan Medical is in development of a heart valve replacement therapy. Producing the implants we use is done by hand, using a processes that consist of hand sewing on a microscopic scale. Duties include straight stitching using a needle holder, done under a microscope. Training may be provided if necessary! Essential skills are: -The ability to hand stitch using a needle holder (tweezers) -Comfortable using a microscope for long periods of time. -OK with repetitive motion. -Comfortable with working in a clean room environment -Good attitude, willing to learn, and work hard!! Candidates without experience may take a sewing test at our facility. Passing applicants without experience may start at $27/Hr. Applicants with med device experience may earn more.

A metals distributor in the San Diego area has an opening for a full-time Saw Operator & Inspector to work 40 hours a week Monday-Friday (7:30 am to 4:00 pm) & available to work OT as needed. This is a temp-to-hire position, to ensure that you are a good fit for our company and that we are a good fit for you. This individual will be assisting warehouse team to inspect materials, cut metals to size, and final inspect parts. Must also assist with keeping saws, equipment, and warehouse clean, and returning unused materials to stock.
