PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES: MECHANICAL ASSEMBLER I: Under direct supervision, perform basic and routine electro-mechanical assembly operations. Use tools such as drills, soldering guns, screwdrivers, measuring instruments, and other hand tools. Follow verbal and written instructions such as drawings, assembly layouts, sketches and work instructions in completing highly repetitive tasks. MECHANICAL ASSEMBLER II: Under minimal supervision, exhibit skills in all pre-requisites for Mechanical Assembler I plus: Ability to perform a wider variety, more complex assembly and sub-assembly tasks. Demonstrate ability to organize and set up work area to maximize efficiency and quality. Perform quality checks. May perform conformal coating. High School diploma or general education degree (GED) plus a minimum of one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. LANGUAGE SKILLS. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing with co-workers and engineering and management staff. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. REASONING ABILITY. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. PHYSICAL DEMANDS.
