We are a precision CNC Machine Shop looking for a motivated Shop Helper to join our team. This is an entry-level role with opportunities to learn and grown in the machining trade. Responsibilities: Assist skilled machinists by supplying tools, materials, and parts. Clean machines, equipment, and work areas. Perform routine general maintenance, including lubricating machines. Help lift, position, and move materials and parts. Perform basic assembly and hardware installation (bolts, nuts, etc.). Grind, de-burr, cut, or trim material as needed (saws, grinders, drills). Assist in supervised setups and operate CNC machines at a basic level. Follow verbal and written instructions accurately. Other general shop duties as assigned. Must be available for overtime when needed. Qualifications: High school diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience. Ability to read and understand safety rules, maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Basic math skills (add, subtract, multiply, divide with whole numbers, fractions, and decimals). Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs regularly. Comfortable standing, walking, bending, and working around machinery. Positive attitude, willingness to learn, and reliable attendance are a must. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: • Under supervision, sets up and operates different types of equipment used to weld metal cabinets and other related products. • Plans details of working procedure, tools, and material requirements. • Welds sheet metal using different welding positions (flat, overhead, vertical, etc.). • Cleans and prepares surfaces (including sanding) to be welded. • Uses cutting torch equipment to dismantle assemblies and to cut material to size and shape. • Builds up worn or defective surfaces. • Keeps equipment and work area clean and orderly. • Works from blueprint, engineering specifications and production schedules. • Upon completion of welding operations, assists other areas as needed. Technical Competencies: • High school or equivalent education preferred. • Have 1+ year or more of MIG Welding experience. • Production welding with sheet metal experience preferred. • Must demonstrate the capability of welding sheet metal products by passing welding test. • Proficient in reading and understanding blueprints and engineering specifications. • Basic reading, writing and numerical ability. • Proficient in using measuring devices as required for product inspection. • Available and willing to work extended hours and/or weekends as production demands dictates. • Must be able to work with minimal supervision.
