We are looking for a skilled Materials Processing Technician with hands-on experience working with powders and bulk solids. This role involves weighing, milling, sieving, mixing, and processing powdered materials. You will be responsible for operating equipment, monitoring quality, and ensuring consistency, safety, and efficiency throughout the production process.
Key Responsibilities:
Powder Handling & Processing
* Safely handle raw powdered materials
* Operate machinery for weighing, blending, milling, sieving, granulating, or compacting powders.
* Prepare materials according to batch sheets and product specifications
* Monitor particle size distribution, flow properties, and consistency during processing.
Equipment Operation & Maintenance
* Set up, operate, and clean mixers, blenders, conveyors, mills, dust collectors, and packaging equipment.
* Ensure machinery is running efficiently, perform routine equipment inspections and support preventative maintenance.
Quality & Safety Control
* Conduct in-process checks (e.g., weight, density, moisture, contamination).
* Record test results and production data in compliance with SOPs.
* Follow safety protocols for dust control, PPE use, and handling of sensitive materials.
* Maintain hygiene standards appropriate for product end use.
Documentation & Reporting
* Maintain accurate logs of materials used, batch yields, and process deviations.
* Communicate process improvements and material handling observations to supervisors.
Required Qualifications:
* High school diploma or equivalent; technical or trade certification preferred.
* Experience working in powder processing (food, chemical, construction, or materials industries).
* Strong attention to detail and ability to follow precise procedures.
* Comfortable with physical tasks: lifting, repetitive motion, standing for long periods.
Bonus:
* Knowledge of safe handling of powders, dust control, and environmental health practices.
* Familiarity with food-grade, chemical, or construction powder handling standards.
* Understanding of particle size analysis, rheology, or powder flow testing.
* Mechanical aptitude for troubleshooting processing equipment.
$20-25/hour
