Assistant Fabricator /Artisan

We are a food manufacturing company in Los Angeles, CA, specializing in the production and packaging of Asian foods such as spring rolls, wontons, fortune cookies, etc. We are seeking an industrial maintenance mechanic. As a maintenance mechanic, you will be responsible for keeping facility equipment in good working condition. Responsibilities: • Ensure all equipment repairs and installations are performed in compliance with food safety requirements. • Communicate with supervisor regarding any issues or concerns. • Ensure mechanical systems are in good condition to prevent downtime. • Ensure all work orders are completed on time. • Perform weekly inspections to identify any deficiencies or concerns and report findings to the maintenance supervisor. • Follow company safety and food safety policies. • Use lockout/tagout procedures when working on equipment. • Assist with other repairs or tasks as needed. • PPE is required. • Additional tasks may be assigned. Requirements: • 3-5 years of industrial maintenance experience • Electrical experience • Troubleshooting skills • Read, write, and speak English (Spanish is a plus) • Use hand tools • Solve problems using collected data • Understand lockout/tagout procedures • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for prolonged periods. • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment. The incumbent will assemble, repair, and modify electronic equipment parts, components, and systems. Located 20 miles north of Manhattan in Irvington, NY, Nevis Laboratories is Columbia University's primary center for the study of high-energy experimental particle and nuclear physics. Faculty members, postdoctoral research scientists, and graduate students, supported by an engineering and technical staff, prepare, design, and construct high-energy particle and nuclear experiments and equipment. This position is grant-funded and contingent on continued funding. Responsibilities Interact with vendors for the procurement of electronic components. Source and assist with the onboarding of new vendors. Manage records of orders and delivery dates, ensuring alignment with deadlines. Assemble, modify, and repair Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs); apply advanced soldering skills to ensure precise electronic component connections, including through-hole and surface-mount techniques; complete soldering, cable, and test fixture assembly. Perform detailed soldering work, including reflow soldering and operation of related equipment. Inspect solder joints and connections to ensure strong electrical conductivity and mechanical integrity, in accordance with industry standards and best practices. Troubleshoot and repair soldering issues such as cold joints, bridges, and other defects to maintain optimal board functionality. Maintain accurate records of parts lists. Perform other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications A combination of education and two years of minimum trade experience will be considered in lieu of a bachelors degree. Preferred Qualifications Bachelors degree or trade certification. Understanding of electronics shop operations and requirements. Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on skills. Other Requirements Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. Excellent soldering and technical skills. Specialized experience (SE)/requirement(s). Ability to maintain high confidentiality and professionalism with a client focus. Strong multi-tasking, prioritization, and organization skills.
