Our well-established, regional civil litigation law firm needs an experienced paralegal. Experience should include excellent office skills including typing, and knowledge of court rules and procedures for filings, service of process, and related paralegal skills. Experience in commercial and insurance litigation a plus. Hours will be five days a week, 20 - 40 hours a week depending on our needs and your availability. No remote workers please. Review, clean up, and close out contract lifecycle management workflows. Update and improve templates and clause libraries. Review and interpret contracts/terms to create legal summaries in support of diligence projects. Web and legal research to inform compliance programs and to educate the department on evolving regulations, policies, and standards affecting the business. Qualifications J.D. with license to practice law in a US state, ideally California licensed. 4+ years of relevant legal experience (may be a combination of in-house and law firm). Strong contract drafting and redlining skills. Experience using playbooks and legal drafting and review standards to review and negotiating commercial agreements. Ability to work closely with members of the legal department to translate feedback into contract redlines and responses. Highly organized with the ability to manage projects from initial idea phases to the final deliverable. A diligent, independent worker with a bias towards action and moving projects and deliverables forward.
