Lead Painter (Federal Way)
The Lead Painter is responsible for overseeing and executing high-quality residential painting projects from preparation to final finish. This role combines hands-on painting expertise with leadership responsibilities, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of workmanship and customer satisfaction. The Lead Painter will mentor crew members, enforce safety and quality protocols, and serve as the on-site point of contact for clients and management. Key Responsibilities:
Painting & Production
• Perform all phases of interior and exterior painting, including preparation, priming, brushing, rolling, and spraying.
• Match, mix, and apply paints, stains, varnishes, and coatings with precision.
• Ensure surfaces are properly prepared (caulking, sanding, patching, masking, etc.) to achieve professional finishes.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of job sites and tools.
Leadership & Supervision
• Lead, train, and supervise painters and helpers on assigned projects.
• Delegate tasks and monitor quality and productivity.
• Provide guidance on best practices, safe use of equipment, and proper painting techniques.
• Motivate and support team members to achieve project goals.
Project Management
• Review scope of work, project plans, and specifications before starting each job.
• Track and communicate progress, materials needs, and challenges to management.
• Ensure projects meet deadlines and quality standards.
• Work with clients professionally, addressing questions and concerns on-site.
Safety & Compliance
• Enforce compliance with OSHA standards, company safety protocols, and PPE use.
• Maintain safe and hazard-free work environments.
Qualifications
• 3+ years of professional painting experience (residential and/or small commercial).
• Demonstrated leadership or crew lead experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of surface preparation, paint products, tools, and application methods (brush, roll, spray).
• Ability to read work orders, measure and calculate materials, and follow specifications.
• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Reliable transportation and valid driver’s license.
• Ability to lift 75 lbs, climb ladders, and work at heights.
