Repair and maintain equipment and facilities for the mine. This includes, but is not limited to, electrical, hoses and oil leaks, welding, air conditioning, field oiler, and other mechanical work, depending on experience. Specific responsibilities may include: Diagnose and repair heavy equipment and haul trucks to keep them in top shape. Computer diagnostics. Welding. Maintain mine equipment. Field oiler/lube technician. Inspect mine equipment before start up. Operate all equipment in a safe manner to keep unnecessary maintenance problems to a minimum. Communicate with all employees about unsafe conditions and/or maintenance needed, pass down instructions to the next mechanic and/or supervisor at shift change. Maintain a safe, clean, environmentally sound work area for all employees. Complete pre/post shift inspections, fuel equipment, perform PMs and operate equipment proficiently. Responsible for reporting safety, quality, environmental, and equipment concerns to supervisor. Work under close supervision. Give appropriate consideration to safety, quality, and environmental concerns. Support and participate in the organization’s Continual Improvement Program to conform to API Specification Q1, 9th Edition requirements by complying with the Quality Policy and procedures and meeting QMS objectives. Other duties as assigned. Requirements: Education and training: Must have a current CDL with tanker, doubles and Haz-Mat endorsements. Welding Certification may be required. Experience: Six (6) months to one (1) year in preventative maintenance preferred. Experience working in an API Specification Q1, 9th Edition environment a plus. Knowledge and Skills: General mechanical knowledge of heavy equipment. Welding and metal- working skills. Record Keeping Basic math and computer skills Peer-to-peer and interpersonal communication skills.
