Senior BAS Technician — Austin, TX BAS Senior Building Automation Systems Technician — Austin, TX Full-time • On-site (local travel) • Competitive comp + benefits Senior • Commissioning • DDC • Tridium The role We need a senior-level Controls/BAS tech who can run complex startups, debug control logic, and lead commissioning from installation to owner handoff. You’ll work with AHUs, chillers, boilers, VAVs, DDC panels, and energy management systems across commercial projects. Key responsibilities Commission and troubleshoot DDC controls for AHUs, RTUs, VAVs, chillers, boilers, pumps, and VFDs. Perform point-to-point checkout, device mapping, and I/O verification. Edit and optimize control logic — design sequences of operation, tune PID loops, and validate setpoints. Work with front-ends: create/adjust graphics, set alarm priorities, and configure trend logs. Diagnose and resolve comms issues (BACnet/IP, BACnet MSTP, Modbus, LonWorks where applicable). Lead functional testing and handover documentation for owners and commissioning agents. Required qualifications 5+ years BAS/controls field experience (install → programming → commissioning). Hands-on with at least one platform: Tridium/Niagara, Johnson Controls Metasys, or Siemens Desigo. Deep understanding of HVAC systems and mechanical sequences — you know expected equipment behavior. Network-savvy: IP addressing, subnetting, switch basics, and device binding. Comfortable reading electrical schematics; can build and execute P2P checklists.
