Core Responsibilities: Transport materials to job sites using a company vehicle, maintaining punctuality and accuracy in deliveries. Engage in daily cleanup operations at job sites, particularly for projects that extend over several days. Conduct comprehensive final clean-ups following project completion, including trash removal and property inspections. Gather any unused materials from job sites for return to the warehouse. Receive, inspect, and arrange materials that arrive at the warehouse from our vendors. Maintain a tidy and orderly warehouse environment. Prepare vehicles each day for subsequent deliveries, including loading necessary supplies. Return any surplus materials to vendors when necessary. Ensure delivery vehicles are regularly stocked with required items and refueled as needed. Assist with additional tasks as needed to facilitate efficient warehouse operations. Work Schedule: Full-time, Monday through Friday, 1st shift #PJFITZ2025 Requirements Qualifications: Minimum one year of experience in a driving or warehouse position. Must be able to pass a DOT physical examination. Must be at least 21 years of age. Valid non-CDL driver's license required. Experience operating a box truck or dump truck is preferred. About the Job We are looking for an experienced Engineering Manager to join the Space Systems Business Group, where you will provide leadership and guidance to both personnel and programs while managing Umbra's highly skilled Systems Engineering and Test teams. This role reports directly to the Vice President of Space Systems and involves overseeing a team responsible for designing, testing and supporting operations of cutting-edge satellite technology. As the Engineering Manager, you will have the opportunity to collaborate with hardware, software, and product-focused teams, as well as senior leadership, to drive the development of innovative technologies and support the professional growth of a talented group of engineers. This position is based on-site in our Santa Barbara, CA office. Key Responsibilities Lead personnel and oversee programmatic initiatives for the Systems Engineering and Test teams within the Space Systems Business Group. Support the professional growth and career development of spacecraft systems engineers, test automation engineers and software test engineers, incorporating feedback from technical leadership. Drive innovation and implement process improvements to Umbra's Systems Engineering practices and Test Infrastructure to increase efficiency and effectiveness. Work closely with project, product, and technical leads to understand project scope, ensuring team members execute tasks with high quality and efficiency. Manage team members in areas such as workload, task assignments, support, development, and conflict resolution. Hold regular one-on-one meetings with team members and conduct quarterly performance evaluations. Ensure the team adheres to legal, security, and company policy requirements. Represent the team's needs and capacity in technical meetings, collaborating with subject matter experts to ensure well-informed solutions. Work directly with the Operating Manager of Space Systems to coordinate and report on departmental efforts. Partner with various stakeholders for headcount planning and recruitment of new personnel. Apply agile methodologies to support sprint planning, track progress, and manage individual performance. Perform other professional duties as assigned. Requirements Required Qualifications 8+ years of professional experience in aerospace engineering or a related field, with at least 5 years of experience in personnel management. 5+ years of experience in systems engineering and test infrastructure. 3+ years of experience in project management. Proficiency in traditional project management practices and tools, such as critical path analysis, resource loading, and MS Project. Experience with agile project management methodologies and tools, such as Scrum, SAFe, and Jira. Proven ability to build and support high-performing engineering teams. Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative, and dynamic environment. Desired Qualifications 10+ years of experience in personnel management. 10+ years of experience in systems engineering and test infrastructure within the aerospace engineering industry. Demonstrated expertise in applying traditional and agile management methodologies. Degree in engineering or a related STEM field. Certifications in PMP (Project Management Professional), CAPM (Certified Associate in Project Management), and/or CSM (Certified Scrum Master). To ensure greater transparency, we provide base salary ranges for all roles, regardless of location. Our standard pay ranges are based on the role’s function and level, benchmarked against similar growth-stage companies. Compensation may vary based on geographical location, as certain regions may have different cost-of-living factors. The final offer will also be influenced by the candidate's skills, responsibilities, and relevant experience. Compensation Range The Compensation Range for this role is $180,000 - $215,000 DOE.
