The co-teacher needs to establish effective rapport with students, as well as motivate and guide students to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge needed for a foundation for lifelong learning and responsible global citizenship. Establishing and maintaining positive relationships with parents and other faculty/staff members, as well as collaborating effectively with other faculty/staff members are essential. The co-teacher must support the school’s mission and core values. Supervisor: Head of Lower School  Position Status: Salaried, exempt, part-time, 9-month Hours of Work: Standard work week (8:30am - 2:30pm) ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES Work closely with the lead teacher to plan, share responsibilities, and support classroom activities Conduct activities for a balanced program of instruction, demonstration, and work time that provides students with opportunities to observe, question, and investigate Supporting the flow of the day (including supervision during carpool, recess, lunch, and other assigned duties) and facilitating children’s learning as established by the lead teacher Coordinate with lead teacher to provide individualized and small group instruction while delivering high-quality, engaging instruction using a variety of strategies, such as inquiry, group discussion, discovery, play and hands-on experiences Observe and evaluate students' performance, behavior, and social development Help maintain a positive, organized, and inclusive classroom Use protocols in alignment with the lead teacher with regard to student behavior and growth Assist in assessing student performance and progress, and provide constructive feedback to both students and lead teachers to inform student evaluations Establish and maintain positive relationships with families  Contribute positively to the School’s culture and community by adhering to the professional standards outlined by the School PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT   While performing the duties of this position, the employee is required to sit; stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle and feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl; talk and hear; engage in moderately strenuous physical activity both indoors and out; and smell. The employee may occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds.
