POSITION SUMMARY: Focus Interpreting is excited to announce an opening for an American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreter in Los Angeles. We are looking for an enthusiastic professional who can provide exceptional interpretation services to bridge communication between deaf and hearing individuals across various contexts. RESPONSIBILITIES: Deliver accurate and fluent ASL interpretation for diverse settings such as corporate meetings, educational sessions, medical facilities, and public events. Adapt interpreting style to meet the specific needs of clients, ensuring clarity and understanding during the interpretation process. Uphold professional standards of confidentiality and integrity while representing Focus Interpreting. REQUIREMENTS: Proficient in American Sign Language (ASL) with excellent English language skills. Certification or formal education in ASL interpretation preferred. Drive to family home and deliver health, educational, nutritional and child growth and development information to parents via weekly meetings. Coordinate with parents to ensure that immunizations, health screenings, and nutrition assessments are complete and necessary follow up occurs. Complete family partnership agreements, developmental screenings and all other required assessments with families in a timely manner. Assist and support families in locating resources and scheduling appointments with community resources that best meets their needs. Provide support in parent and child activities that encourages developmentally appropriate activities for the changing needs of infants and toddlers. Socialization Activities Plan socialization activities twice monthly that are designed to meet the needs of all children including those with special needs, those who are gifted, and those who are culturally diverse. Integrate all Head Start components into classroom time. Develop and utilize lesson plans, which promote the social-emotional, physical, and cognitive development of Early Head Start children with regard for the family culture and dynamics. Individualize activities to reflect the student’s unique strengths and needs. Provide an atmosphere and activities to encourage parental involvement and encourage parents as their child’s first teacher. Planning, Preparation, and Documentation Review each child’s goals and develop individual plans designed to promote current learning and attend to nutritional, health, and social issues.
