Description

The Academic Department Coordinator advances the educational mission of the academic department(s) and program(s) that they serve by providing a high level of support to faculty, staff and students, while cultivating compliance with college-wide administrative procedures. This is a part-time, benefits-eligible and follows the undergraduate academic year schedule, with eight weeks of unpaid summer leave, resulting in a 0.5 FTE (full-time equivalency). The specific dates off will be determined based on when work is completed in and around June. The hourly hiring range is $24.47 - $30.59 per hour. Core Responsibilities: Ensures departmental/programmatic stability and institutional knowledge through documentation and personal experience, especially during department chair/program director transitions (every 1-3 years).   Supports and advises department chairs, program directors, and faculty members with operational, budgetary, organizational, project management, and technical expertise including College processes, policies & guidelines.   Participates in the implementation of departmental goals and objectives.   Administrates processes central to the academic mission including but not limited to course offerings and student placements for registration, course catalog updates, major and minor verifications, department honors, external reviews, and faculty recruiting.   Serves as a key liaison between academic programs and all other offices, services, and students.   Collaborates in the planning and implementation of department-hosted guest speakers, events, and field trips.   Takes responsibility for ordering at multiple levels from basic office and academic supplies to complex equipment, supplies, and contracted services.   Undertakes responsibilities that can vary across departments and programs.   Requirements Works well independently, prioritizes essential tasks, makes decisions, and meets deadlines despite frequent interruptions.   Has excellent communication, writing and editing skills with attention paid to fine detail as well as the ability to anticipate, recognize and correct errors.   Demonstrates excellent interpersonal skills and a willingness to work with a wide variety of people including students, faculty, and staff.   Has excellent technological skills and computer literacy and is willing to learn multiple computer programs simultaneously. Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, and file sharing required.   Associates degree required; Bachelor’s degree preferred or 5 years of administrative experience.   Physical Demands and Working Conditions Work is performed in an office environment and requires the ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboards.
