While this role will be listed through David’s hiring channels, the Commercialization Engineer (Chemical) will operate exclusively within Epogee’s independent team, leadership, and mission. This role reports directly to the Director of R&D at Epogee. Role and Responsibilities: We are looking for a Commercialization Engineer (Chemical) to help expand EPG manufacturing and bring new processes online. You will be Epogee’s expert in manufacturing operations — owning how the molecule moves from bench to full-scale production. This is a hands-on, systems-building role ideal for someone excited to translate R&D into commercial success. This position is based in New York City (in-person, full-time) and will require initial immersion at our satellite lab for technical onboarding. Your responsibilities will include: Process Ownership Become the internal expert on EPG production, including esterification and distillation systems Lead end-to-end scale-up at manufacturing partner sites Drive process optimization and ensure consistency across batches and facilities Manufacturing Leadership Direct and troubleshoot production runs at partner facilities Work with manufacturers to resolve technical challenges and maintain a high bar for quality and reproducibility Technology Transfer Translate R&D formulations into robust, cost-effective commercial processes Develop scalable documentation systems: training materials, and transfer protocols Build the roadmap for repeatable success across partners and products Cross-Functional Execution Work closely with R&D, Quality, and Supply Chain to align technical specifications and production planning Lead onboarding and ramp-up of new manufacturing partners Support the development of future ingredient platforms and process innovations IP Development Identify and help protect novel manufacturing methods or innovations Contribute to patents, disclosures, and defensible technical documentation Champion scientific rigor in all aspects of commercialization Requirements B.S. or M.S. in Chemical Engineering 3+ years of experience in food, ingredient, or chemical manufacturing Strong technical writing and troubleshooting skills Comfort working directly with manufacturing teams, labs, and cross-functional partners Attention to detail and a bias toward clarity, systems, and follow-through Bonus: Familiarity with fats, oils, and ester manufacturing processes, as well as physical refining Benefits Initial lab work will take place at Epogee’s lab in Clemson, SC for ~1 year before the NYC lab is operational. Following lab setup, full-time, in-office role based in New York City — onsite five days a week. Occasional travel will be required to support technical training and production-related activities across our partner network.
