Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Billing Specialist with specialized knowledge in urology medical billing. This role is responsible for managing the revenue cycle, ensuring accurate charge capture, claim submission, payment posting, and denial management specific to urology services and procedures. The ideal candidate will bring a strong understanding of urology coding, payer guidelines, and compliance regulations to maximize reimbursement and support practice growth. Key Responsibilities Accurately prepare and submit claims for urology-related services, including office visits, diagnostic procedures, surgeries, and ancillary services. Ensure proper coding of CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-10 specific to urology procedures (e.g., cystoscopy, lithotripsy, prostate procedures, urodynamics). Review documentation for accuracy and compliance with payer requirements and federal regulations. Manage accounts receivable, post payments, and reconcile EOBs/ERAs. Monitor and resolve claim denials, rejections, and underpayments in a timely manner. Communicate with insurance companies to follow up on outstanding claims and appeal denied claims. Verify patient insurance benefits, obtain prior authorizations when required, and advise on patient responsibility. Collaborate with physicians, coders, and administrative staff to ensure proper documentation and billing practices. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of payer policies, coding changes, and compliance requirements in urology. Provide monthly reporting on billing performance, collections, and aging accounts. Requirements Required: 2+ years of medical billing experience, with at least 1 year in urology or surgical specialties. Strong knowledge of CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-10 coding for urology procedures. Experience with insurance verification, authorizations, and claims follow-up. Familiarity with EMR/EHR and billing software systems. Excellent attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and ability to meet deadlines. Preferred: Certification in medical billing and coding (CPC, CPB, or equivalent). Prior experience working in a urology practice or multi-physician specialty group. Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial payer guidelines specific to urology. Compensation: $80,000 – $100,000 annually, dependent on experience.
