About the Role:  We are seeking a CNC Mill-Lathe Machinist to join our 2nd shift team. Responsible for the setup, Mazatrol programing, operating, and inspection of the final product, ensuring it is free from defects and ready for the next production stage.     Responsibilities include:  Day to day operation of CNC milling and Lathe machines following work lists, shop routers or direction from immediate supervisor while maintaining work schedule with a goal of improving safety and/or production.  Operator is responsible for all set up, programming.   Basic programming knowledge of machine being hired for (Mazak or Okuma).  Write programs for basic parts.  Set-up tooling prior to running part and recognize potential tool interference.  Demonstrate the ability to learn back setup.  Operate overhead cranes, clamping devices.  Perform similar and related duties as assigned by supervisor.  Maintain clean and safe work area.  Complete tasks timely and efficiently in accordance with expectations as directed by supervisor.  Able to operate tools including but not limited to, hand tools, manual machine tools, torch, drill press, etc.  Ability to learn Eriez labor and work order collection system.  Notify supervisor when faulty equipment or defective materials are discovered.  Requirements High school diploma OR GED  Skill or experience with Mazatrol programing  Program, set up and operate horizontal and vertical CNC machining centers including the setting of all tooling and fixtures, proper feeds and speeds, using both carbide and high-speed steel tools.  Able to read and interpret engineering drawings and use Advanced mathematics and formulas.  Use a variety of precision measuring instruments with proficiency.  Experience in programming and operating, (acknowledged training preferred) using Mazatrol or conversational control systems to create programs from engineering drawings.  Ability to learn machining processes through formal training, including knowledge of materials, feeds, speeds, tooling, inserts, coolant, drills, taps, etc.  Benefits 401(k) Employer 401(k) matching Dental insurance Disability insurance Flexible spending account Health insurance Health savings account Life insurance Paid time off Tuition reimbursement Vision insurance Hourly pay Range: $23.23/hr. to $25.55 (commensurate with experience) + 6% second shift differential premium Eriez is an Equal Opportunity Employer. JOB SUMMARY This position operates machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, secondary equipment, and grinders, to machine metallic and nonmetallic workpieces by performing a variety of duties.   ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Machine setup, operation, and startup, restarting the machine, adjusts tooling to maintain proper sizes, replaces broken or worn tooling. Verify conformance of work piece to specifications, using measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and go-no-go gauges. Secures all tooling and instruments required; Positions and secures work piece in holding device, machine table, chuck, centers, or fixtures. Understand how to adjust work offsets and part zero. Understand how to adjust the speed and feed of the machine according to different part specifications. Observes daily preventative machine maintenance: proper coolant levels, filters, fan operation, cleans machines, etc. Responsible for loading tools, setting tool Diameters so that cutter radius compensation may be used. Understand how to install Workholding. Additional responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor may include department transfers to meet production needs. REQUIRED SKILLS / ATTRIBUTES Ability to recognize and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to communicate effectively with supervisor and co-workers as needed. Ability to perform intermediate shop math skills and calculations: fraction conversions, divide, multiply, percentages, etc. Basic computer skills required to perform inquiry, data collection or input. Strong work ethic: Willing to work OT to meet tight deadlines as needed.   EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE High school diploma or GED. Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a CNC related field - set up experience preferred. Ability to quickly use the control panel to do offsets and edits on 2-3 of the FMS machinery. Tolerance: Ability to machine parts to +/- 0.0005” for diameter and +/- 0.001” for length. Ability to read and interpret GD&T blueprints to the needed specification in creating a part. Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently.   PHYSICAL JOB REQUIREMENTS Regularly required to stand and reach the duration of shift, 8-10 hours. Occasionally required to walk, sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, or bend. Frequently required to perform repetitive or short-cycles work. Regularly lift, push, or pull up to 10 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds. Understands and observes all necessary safety procedures: safety glasses, shoes, ear protection, machine interlocks, lifting guidelines, etc. as designated in specific work area assigned. Ensure that the compound is entering the extruder continuously and smoothly. Ensure all dimensions are within product specifications. Trouble shoot extrusion process & interact with Maintenance in resolution of equipment problems. Make regular checks on the water level in the cooling tank and ensure that the profile is centered on the hot air tunnel belt. Ensure samples are available for the Q.C. Inspector and measurements are done to the specified frequencies. Pack or cut to the cut length specifications the extruded profile as instructed. Ensure printing and logo is correct and is in accordance with the drawing. Follow quality procedures, document, and record all required process control information. Must be eager to learn, excited to work on a team, and have good written and verbal communication skills Other duties as the need arises and/or assigned. Qualifications & Experience Must be 18 years of age or older. High School diploma or equivalent experience. Must be able to use or can be trained on various types of measuring tools related to our stamping and gasket manufacturing process. Demonstrates the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to read, write and comprehend sophisticated instructions, correspondence, and reports. Requires good mobility and involves considerable lifting (less than 35 lbs.), pulling, bending, standing and walking. Working conditions The incumbent in this role spends almost 100% of their time in the plant environment, which may involve varying degrees of physical labor such as standing and walking for long periods of time, lifting, pushing and pulling.
