THA’s Kind Clinic Express Testing Specialist is responsible for providing safe, confidential HIV and STI testing to eligible patients in Austin and surrounding areas. This is an in-person role and reports to the Clinic Administrator. This is a full-time, non-exempt position requiring 40 hours a week with variable schedule including some night and weekend hours. What you would do:   Effectively room and perform Express Testing visit according to established protocols and procedures.   Provides culturally competent, anonymous and confidential HIV and STI testing including delivery of results and education.   Assess patients based on established criteria to ensure eligibility for Express Testing.     Performs phlebotomy routinely to facilitate testing encounters and processes lab specimens as needed during clinic hours or operation.  Act as a liaison between the laboratory, clinician, and patients.  Evaluate provider requests for accuracy and completeness, orders, verify labeling/identification, and follow appropriate protocol in handling specimens.  Thoroughly clean/stock exam rooms.  Complete all visit and laboratory documentation in an accurate and timely manner.   Assist clinic staff and Clinic Administrator in monitoring inventory levels and verify receipt of supplies in accordance with established policies and procedures.  Utilize and promotes infection control measures and universal precautions to maintain high quality of health and safety during clinic operation.  Complete annual clinical competencies.   Maintain a system of confidentiality according to clinic’s policies and procedures and per HIPAA guidelines.  Participate in staff planning, in-service, and other meetings as needed.   Perform other duties as assigned.  Compensation Based on job duties and requirements, this position has an hourly rate of $20.80. Requirements Education and Licensure High School diploma or GED required.  Bachelor’s degree in social work, public health, or any related field preferred. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR certification must be obtained before you will be allowed to attend orientation. Phlebotomy certification required (may complete within first month of hire).   Experience Strong understanding of HIV and STI prevention issues and how they affect or influence service delivery. Previous experience in HIV testing, PrEP and PEP services, STI clinics, and/ or working with patients on sexual health preferred.
