This position focuses on collaborating with staff across the Operations Division to ensure systems operate efficiently, deliver ongoing value, and evolve in response to organizational needs. The District is embarking on an exciting modernization initiative—migrating from an on premise SAP environment to SAP S/4HANA Cloud. Candidates with knowledge of work order systems, enterprise asset management, and plant maintenance modules are strongly preferred. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to a major transformation while shaping the future of our operational technology landscape. This role is ideal for problem-solvers who enjoy turning business needs into smart technical solutions and improving how teams work through technology. Typical duties may include, but are not limited to the following: • Positions at the Business Systems Analyst I level may perform some of these duties and responsibilities in a learning capacity. • Perform advanced technical and administrative support for the operation, implementation, and maintenance of the District’s integrated business systems. • Collaborate with end-users to understand service needs and define functional and business requirements. • Develop and maintain clear, comprehensive standard operating procedures, job aids and user guides. • Train staff to maximize the effective use of business applications and tools. • Provide technical and functional guidance to other team members as needed. • Support initiatives that enhance operational efficiency and data integrity. • Participate in unit and end user acceptance testing. Experience & Qualifications Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities are qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be: • Business Systems Analyst I: Graduation from college with a four year degree in business information systems or related field; and one year of experience providing technical support of computer software and software systems. Or • Graduation from college with a two year degree in business information systems or related field; and two years of experience providing technical support of computer software and software systems. • Business Systems Analyst II: Graduation from college with a four-year degree in computer science or related field; and, three years of increasingly responsible experience providing support of computer applications and end users. Or • Graduation from college with a two-year degree in computer science or related field; and, four years of increasingly responsible experience providing support of computer applications and end users. Licenses: • Possession of or the ability to obtain an appropriate California driver's license issued by the State Department of Motor Vehicles and satisfactory driving record. Knowledge of: • Positions at the Business Systems Analyst I level may exercise some of these knowledge and abilities in a learning capacity. • Theories and applications of computer science. • Project and program management methodologies and approaches. • Methods and techniques used in the installation, trouble shooting and maintenance of software applications. • Methods of system analysis. • Principles and practices of effective administration of business information systems. • Techniques used in gathering, retrieving, and reporting data. • Practices and techniques of training and instruction. • Personal computer software such as spreadsheets, word processing, and graphics applications. • Proper English usage, spelling, grammar, and punctuation. • Policies and techniques for effective communication and customer service. Ability to: • Provide technical support for implementation and maintenance of business information system tools. • Respond to and identify user needs and help determine solutions. • Design, documentation, and improvement of business processes. • Design and develop system and user documentation and procedures. • Develop and establish objective performance measures and standards. • Analyze and assess the technological needs of business information system users and ability to formulate appropriate recommendations. • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and solve problems for system users and detect and identify the cause of errors in data integrity. • Develop effective training/reference materials and provide instruction to system users. • Communicate effectively, clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
