Classic Car for Sale. Serious Buyers only. 1963 Volkswagen Beetle Type 1 for sale. 1767cc motor with 32,653 miles on the odometer as of July 2025. History= This car was purchased in 2019 by John’s Mobile Engine Service in San Mateo, CA from a widow in the San Francisco Bay area. John’s Mobile Engine Service specializes in restoration of German air-cooled cars and has been in business in CA for >50 years. The engine was completely rebuilt and a detailed car restoration (*with exception of a new paint job) was completed over the course of 2019. The initial odometer at shop was about ~29,800. We purchased the VW from John Marignac in mid-November 2019 and transferred title. This new engine has roughly ~2,800 miles on it. It’s unknown how many times the odometer has restarted. Since the car has been in San Diego, it has had three engine services, all performed by John Marignac, including: Oil changes, 2 valve adjustments, fixed an oil cooler leak (no further issues), and battery replacement due to interior door light malfunction, since fixed. The body is in good condition and paint is fair with some patina and fade. The car has had NO known accidents, no significant dents, just a few rock nicks here and there. The paint color is not original but certainly adds a ton of character. We decided not to repaint as COVID severely impacted the autobody industry in CA, many reputable shops shut down or only do insurance work, thus we couldn’t affordably paint it. The interior seats and upholstery were redone by the previous owner, to match the yellow and white color theme of the car. There is no rust or damage on the bottom of the car and it’s very clean. The accessory rooftop surfboard rack is brand new. This VW is mechanically and structurally in excellent condition. The car is an absolute joy to ride and has plenty of pep. Everyone likes to watch it drive by. We always get lots of thumbs up and smiles. The perfect car for the Southern California, or any beach lifestyle.
